Dr Pat Giddings MBBS, MHM, DRANZCOG, FRACGP, FACRRM, FRACMA

Dr Pat Giddings is an Australian rural general practitioner, medical educator, and health system leader with over 25 years’ experience in rural and remote health workforce development. He is the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Remote Vocational Training Scheme Ltd (RVTS), a national program delivering distributed, community-based postgraduate training to doctors working in underserved rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Australia. Since helping establish RVTS in 1999, Pat has led the development of flexible training models that enable doctors to train while remaining embedded in their communities—an approach increasingly relevant across the Asia-Pacific region.

Pat continues active clinical and executive practice as a part-time Director of Medical Services across multiple rural health services and holds an academic appointment as Professor of Practice – Rural General Practice at the University of New South Wales. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2017 for services to rural medicine.
