Climate
Late March in Iloilo City is hot, humid, and generally dry—part of the warm “dry season.” Expect daytime highs around 32–33 °C (90–91 °F) and overnight lows near 24–25 °C (75–77 °F). Sunshine is common, UV is very high, and while rain is less frequent, brief afternoon showers or a thunderstorm can pop up. We recommend wearing light, breathable fabrics, plenty of sun gear for outdoor transfers, and bringing a small umbrella or rain jacket.
Time Zone
Iloilo City, Philippines, uses Philippine Standard Time (PST / PHT; UTC +8) year-round and does not observe daylight saving time.
Clothing
The dress code for WONCA-APR 2026 is business casual for all occasions unless stated otherwise.
Currency
The currency used the Philippines is the Philippine peso, known locally as the piso in Filipino. Its ISO code is PHP, and its symbol is ₱. You’ll find coins in denominations of ₱1, ₱5, ₱10 and frequently used banknotes of ₱20, ₱50, ₱100, ₱200, ₱500, and ₱1,000. Credit cards are commonly accepted in higher-end hotels and many restaurants in Iloilo City; However, several smaller establishments, local businesses, and some mid-range hotels may accept only Visa and Mastercard, and American Express is less widely accepted. Cash is still very commonly used, especially in local markets. If you would like to exchange foreign currency, keep in mind that local specialized money changers tend to offer better rates and lower fees than banks.

Electricity
The standard electricity supply throughout the Philippines is 220 volts and 60 Hz, with three plug types commonly available:
Type A: Two flat parallel pins (common in North America, Japan)
Type B: Two flat parallel pins + grounding pin
Type C: Two round pins (common in Europe) – some hotels and newer buildings have universal sockets.

Tip: Even though Type C is sometimes found, Type A and B are the most common, so travelers from Europe, the UK, Australia, or other regions will likely need a plug adapter.
