Dr. Nicodemus is the Director of the Newborn Screening Reference Center at the National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines Manila, and a Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. She previously served as a National Board Member of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP).
Her involvement in medical education began in 2007 as an Institute Fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) Philadelphia, further strengthened by completing the FAIMER-Keele Diploma in Health Professions Education: Accreditation and Assessment. These experiences established her expertise in educational quality assurance and accreditation.
With over 18 years of leadership in medical education, Dr. Nicodemus currently chairs the Family Medicine Training Program Accreditation Board of the PAFP, serves as a member of the Commission on Basic Medical Education, and an accreditor for the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). She is also a Technical Evaluator for Medicine at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), contributing to the maintenance of quality and standards in medical education across the country.
Internationally, she is an Executive Committee Member, as Member-at-Large, of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) Asia Pacific Region. She has co-authored chapters in two major WONCA publications—Social Accountability in Family Medicine in the Undergraduate Curriculum and Exploring Core Values in Family Medicine in the Asia Pacific Region in Core Values in Family Medicine.
Dr. Nicodemus has published on innovations in family medicine education and strengthening primary care systems, reflecting her commitment to advancing medical education, and accreditation for local health systems strengthening.
